The hiking trail joins the two idyllic winegrowing villages of Wilchingen and Osterfingen. The traditional heritage listed villages, influenced by their winegrowing culture, display an unmistakeable character and charm.
Route
Wilchingen-Hallau–Wilchingen
From Wilchingen-Hallau train station the hike leads along a route to St.Otmar’s church, built in 1676, in Wilchingen. Along the nature trail, overlooking the vineyards, the trail leads to the viewpoint «uf Stuel». In midst of a large forest clearing is the inn, Gasthaus Rossberghof, surrounded by impressive flora.
The descent through an oak forest with rare orchids, such as the gas plant, ends in Himmelrich overlooking Osterfingen. The idyllic winegrowing village, in the valley between Rossberg and Wannenberg welcomes the hiker with its magnificent timber-framed houses and typical Schaffhausen farm gardens. Past the historical "Bergtrotte" Osterfingen, the trail ends in Wilchingen, the poet’s village.
