Every December, this medieval town lights up with a pre-Christmas illumination. A canopy of lights over the Rhine bridge illuminates the night. This landmark is brightly lit up and the shop windows of the town’s shopkeepers are lovingly decorated.
There is a large Christmas tree and a little fairytale house and everywhere there are wooden signposts. You feel as if you were in fairyland during Advent in the historical little town of Stein am Rhein. From 1 to 31 December 2013, for the 13th time already, this Schaffhausen gem has turned into a fairytale town, «Märlistadt»
