If you are lucky enough to go hiking in the wine-growing district around the small village of Oberhallau on a sunny day, it is worth keeping your eyes and ears open. From high above you can hear the call of the red kite, a singing field lark dives down into the fields or a group of squawking grey partridges flutter into the nearest hedge. On recently ploughed fields you can often find fossils that lay waiting in the black Jurassic rock formations dating back 180 million years.
The Oberhallau winegrowers are pleased to show you their fine wines and how they are produced. Whether for an aperitif or a wine tasting session or for a tour of the cellars a visit to the winegrowers is always well worthwhile.
