Of Dörlfingens's four sides, three border onto Germany. It lies amidst a beautiful countryside of vineyards and forests. The River Rhine is great for both swimming and going on boat trips.

The village of Hemmental, beautifully located at the foot of the Randen, lies 600 metres above sea level. Whilst Schaffhausen is often foggy in winter, Hemmental is usually sunny.

Neuhausen am Rheinfall is the home of the biggest waterfall in Europe, which strongly influences the area. Masses of water thunder over the rocks day and night into the deep basin below - a magnificent sight.
