In our special library you will find the fundamental works of the European iron literature.

The iron library - Foundation of Georg Fischer AG Schaffhausen - is an international meeting place for the history of technical research.

The areas of this special library are immense: books about iron and all the fields of knowledge thereof from many countries and in numerous languages are kept here. Monographs on iron mining, archaeology, technology and history of transport, architecture, art history and artistry smithy, economic and social history, machinery and bridge engineering, military objects, civil engineering, naval architecture, geosciences, physics, chemistry, mining and mining law, mineralogy and metallurgy, metallography and material testing.

Similarly the first editions of the big encyclopaediae and lexica from the 18th and 19th centuries can be found here. The magazine section offers around 700 different series.
